Weather and climate
The Grand Canyon has a very diverse climate. Summers on the South Rim are warm. Daytime temperatures can reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit. South Rim daytime temperatures in the winter only go down to about 40 degrees Fahrenheit. This rim receives, on average, sixteen inches of rain per year and snow is common in the winter. The North Rim is a little bit cooler than the South Rim. Daytime temperatures reach 70 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer and the daytime temperatures go down to about 30 degrees Fahrenheit in the winter. This rim receives more than 10 feet of snow in the winter. Thunderstorms are very common in the North Rim in July, August and September. Most of the Grand Canyon is desert. in the summer you should bring lights clothes; shorts, tank tops..etc. If you are visiting in the winter you should pack heavy clothes jeans or sweatpants and a heavy jacket.
