There are many different activities for visitors to do when they come to the Grand Canyon. Some favorites include: sightseeing, hiking, river rafting, camping, picnics, and biking. There are many trails with different difficulty levels of hiking. There are 16 different excursions to go on during the day in the South Rim and 14 different excursions in the North Rim. Other activities to do in the Grand Canyon is horseback riding, volunteering, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, swimming, rock climbing, road and mountain biking, and there is a free shuttle bus system to get to places in the Grand Canyon. You can also fish for trout, razorback sucker, humpback chub, pike minnow, and blue head sucker. They also offer cellphone tours. You can download content to hear a ranger talking to you through your phone explain the history of the sights you are seeing. there are also helicopter rides and airplane tours that take more than a million people above the Grand Canyon each year. Kids can also choose to partake in ranger programs. The South Rim in open 24 hours, 365 days a year for these activities. The North Rim is only open from May 15th to October 15th. It takes approximately 5 hours to drive from one rim to the other. Seven-day admission is $25 per vehicle for both rims.
