There are many dangers and risks involved with visiting or going down into the Grand Canyon. More than 250 people are rescued from the canyon each year. Since storms are very common in the Grand Canyon, lightning has injured and killed some visitors to the park. Hypothermia and dehydration are also risks you take when hiking down into the canyon. Hypothermia can be prevented if visitors have right type of clothing and Dehydration can be prevented by drinking lots of water. Rock fall is also a danger involved with the canyon. rocks could fall on hiker when in the canyon. There are also dangers snakes living in the canyon. It is very important to be careful when hiking because you could fall to your death. Although these are all dangerous things, the main cause of deaths in the canyon is air crashes. About 4.5 million people visit the canyon each year and 12 die. So far there have been 685 deaths in the canyon and they are still counting.
